Two is Enough

I think I better call it quits on the Halloween candy. It was great while it lasted. Sneaking one piece (or four) from the trick-or-treat bucket after dinner was almost becoming the highlight of our day. Especially because the kids have no idea we're taking "their" candy. But apparently it is now causing my eldest to view me in a whole new way.

Recently, we were shopping for clothes and Lauryn asked me if I was full. I thought it was a strange question, so I asked her what she meant. She then proceeded to point to my tummy and say, because your tummy is big right now. So I smiled (grimaced) and politely answered, "Nope. I'm not full right now." So then she asks, "Is there a baby in there?"

Ok, moms. I need your support on this one. In my defense, I weigh the exact same as I did when I got pregnant with Lauryn. But lets' face it. Two children later and things just don't stay in the same place. I refrained from explaining to my little angel that it was because of her (and her equally angelic sister) that the skin on my stomach now resembles a form of silly putty.

So tonight she was getting ready for her bath. She looked up at me and said, "Mom? Are you going to have another baby?" Seriously. That's it. I am throwing out the Halloween candy. No more Kit-Kats. No more Snickers. Don't let the "fun size" on the label fool you. There's nothing fun about the side effects from those things (especially after you eat 6 in one sitting).

I calmly asked her why she asked if we were having a new baby. Expecting the worst, she then gave the sweetest little response. I never saw it coming. She said, "I want you to have another baby like Allie." When I told her that two girls were perfect for our family, she said again she wished we had another girl like Allison.

Little does she know that our family is perfect. Two little princesses, full of personality. They are hilarious, they are adorable, they are exhausting, and they are God's most perfect blessings.
