Today I took Allison to get her hair cut for the very first time! She is 14 months old and has had hair since day one. Everyone has always commented on how much hair she has. I figured I would just let it grow and not cut it until she was closer to 2. And even then it would be just to trim the ends.
I had good intentions, but I also experienced a few moments that inspired me to go ahead and cut the child's hair.
I was shocked to realize just how uneven the back of her hair is. As a baby, she rubbed her hair off in the middle of her head from sleeping on her back. Once it started to grow, it was well behind the rest of her hair. But I didn't think it was that obvious. Until now.
Moment #2:
I told her teacher after school yesterday that she would be getting her first haircut. I explained that there is a tiny little spot in the back that is shorter than the rest. I felt I had to explain why I was cutting her "baby" hair, since it was such a small detail no one would even notice. I didn't want her to think I was one of those overly-critical mothers who picked apart her child's every flaw. And then she said to me, "Oh! I thought maybe she once got some gum or something stuck in her hair and you had to cut it out." Seriously. We could not get to that salon fast enough today.
So here are the final results! It's so precious on her! Allie wanted nothing to do with the chair, so I had to hold her. Lauryn came to the rescue and took the pictures for me! We may have a photographer on our hands!
All things traumatic require a graham cracker to make it better. Too bad that doesn't work for all of us. Lose your job? Have a cracker. Fall and break a limb? Eat a graham cracker and you'll be fine.

Back viewIf you know my child at all, you'll realize what an accomplishment this is to have not one, but TWO semi-decent pictures of her "after shots". I'm amazed that they are not blurry since she doesn't remain stationary as a general rule. Although I'm not above a little bribery, and a bag of Skittles can do wonders for persuading your children to comply. I'm just saying....

I have to say it is even cuter in person. Lauryn took some fab pics though!
