Playtime Rocks

When preschool is out for the day, the teachers' kids all go outside to play (monitored) while we clean up in our rooms. Lauryn loves this part of the day, and begs to go right outside after her teacher brings her to my classroom. After I finished in my room, I went out to tell her it was time to go and found her on the playground with her little friend from class.

They were playing "babies", one of Lauryn's favorite things. Lauryn was on the ground "crying" while her friend was tending to her. They said their good-bye's, and we gathered her things and walked to the car. As I put the girls in their car seats, Lauryn started fussing about sitting on something. So I picked her up out of her seat and saw nothing. Suddenly, she got this look on her face and said, "OH!! The rocks!!" Sure enough, I pulled the elastic back on her bloomers to find, what else, a pile of rocks.

Why, you might ask, did she not realize there was still a pile of rocks in her pants as we were walking inside the building, down the hall, out the door, through the parking lot to our car? Your guess would be as good as mine.

So, I just asked. "Why are there rocks in your bloomers!?" She responded, "Because we were playing baby and I was the baby!!" I ended the conversation there. I also made the decision not to ask what the rocks in her bloomers represented.
