In her almost five years (2 days to go!) Lauryn has always kept us laughing. She comes up with the funniest stories and says the cutest things...this is nothing new. She started at a young age.
An excerpt from the journal I started when she was born:
March 3, 2006 (22 months old)
You are so funny! Whenever I wipe your face after you eat, we talk about what we’re wiping off. You’ll say, "I got oakamilk (oatmeal) on the face" or "spaghetti-o’s on the face" or whatever you ate. The other day I changed your diaper and was wiping your bottom. I told you I had to clean your bottom, and you said, "I got spaghetti-o’s on the bottom!?"
I remember when she wanted to ask what something was, she would ALWAYS ask, "What's that sumpin'?" For a while, when she would ask about what somebody did or said, she would say, "Who-body did that?" or "Who-body's car is that?"
Another journal excerpt:
September 2006 (almost 2 1/2 years old)
Lauryn: "What’s this in my bowl?"
Mommy: "It’s ravioli"
Lauryn: "Like rabbits?"
Mommy: "No, not rabbits. Ravioli"
Lauryn: (*sniff, sniff*) "Mmmmm, smells like rabbits!"
I just love to look back and read about the funny things she came up with as a toddler! Now her "Lauryn-isms" are a little more sophisticated. Here are a few from just this week!
*Wandering around the house, looking lost and miserable*
Me: Lauryn, what's wrong?
L: *sigh* It's just such a hard life without sucking my thumb.
(She's been working hard to kick the habit, and it has been tough!!)
(At bath time)
Daddy: Lauryn, time to get in the bathtub.
Lauryn: Can I take my Barbie in the tub with me?
Daddy: Sure.
Lauryn: Yay! See, she's already wearing her zucchini!! (bikini)
We were at Wal-Mart checking out, and someone had spilled a whole box of white rice on the floor at the register next to ours.
L: (Looking at the floor in disgust) "What is THAT?!??"
Me: Well, it looks like someone spilled some rice on the floor.
L: Oh! I thought it was fingernails!!
(Can I just say, GROSS!!!!)
She never fails to keep us entertained. I am constantly running to the computer to document something she says or does. Love this kid!
