Every time we go in the back yard, she is careful to water it, give it plenty of sunlight, and shield it from all things evil (namely little sisters). Allison has never come within 6 feet of that plant because, in all honesty, she would rip it out of the pot by it's roots.
If a stick had roots.
Anyway, Brent thought it would be fun to encourage this little green thumb of Lauryn's and replace the stick with an actual sprouting sunflower. So he went off to Lowe's, bought a seed, and planted it.
We've been growing a baby sunflower in a tiny little pot on our bedroom windowsil.
The other day it sprouted, and he made the switch.
I just wish I had a picture of her face when he called her over to look at her plant to see that it was growing! I can't wait for the actual flower to appear. It will be like Christmas morning.
Here's a picture of our own springtime miracle. Whom Lauryn has appropriately named "Lulu".
Because...you know...why not?

What a sweet daddy to do that for Lauryn. And what a smart daddy for shopping at Lowes!
that is the sweetest story! Sounds like something JD would do.
