I went in her room this morning. She was awake but still in her bed. When she saw me she smiled really big and said, "FOUR!!!!!" She has been so excited to turn four for some reason.
Maybe it's because now she can chew gum. And she hasn't forgotten that "rule" since the day I said it probably about a year ago (at the time I wasn't sure she wouldn't swallow it, so I said she could have gum when she turned 4. This girl has a memory like none I've ever seen!) She just had a piece of gum before her nap, and asked for another when she wakes up.
It's the simple things in life, I suppose.
I have an obnoxious amount of pictures to share. I just can't believe it has been four years!
Here are some of my favorite newborn pictures (keep in mind digital cameras have come a LONG way in four years...excuse the horrible quality. I actually don't think it was the fault of the photographer in this case!)
Almost 38 weeks pregnant. She was born about 3 weeks later. I was always asked if I was having twins. Turns out it was just a 9 lb. 2 oz. baby!
After 18 hours of labor, she was sooooo swollen! All of that struggling resulted in an emergency c-section, as well as a 3 day stay in the NICU.
I love this one!
We were SO excited to take her home!
A marathon sleeper from the very beginning...we have many, many pictures of her asleep!
Hope was always so great with her!
And here's my big girl on her 4th birthday! We were going to celebrate at the zoo today with our friends Ethan and Rachel, but the weather didn't cooperate. Instead, I surprised her with a visit to Build A Bear (her first time) and that made everything ok! Thanks E&R, for sharing the morning with us! I was sad that the zoo didn't work out, but I think the kids still had a great time!
I am amazed at how much Lauryn has changed in the past 4 years. It's hard to believe it has already been 4 years! I can't remember life without her. And wouldn't want to. She has gone from a tiny baby who loved to swing and hated tummy time, to a little girl who adores princesses and loves to read and learn. We are so humbled by the blessing of being her parents.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY. That's crazy how little her face has changed. I feel like Hazel looks completely different now. She's so precious- Build-A-Bear was a great idea! I did a big fat NOTHING for Hazel. Well....that's not completely true, I guess.
We had so much fun hanging with the birthday girl today. There's something very special about the actual birthday. And I, too, can't believe how much she looked like Lauryn even as a little baby. We love that four year old!
