We'll be moving to the Valley pretty soon

Yesterday Lauryn had her dance pictures. We had to have special tights ("theatrical pink") and her hair had to be in a bun. It was serious business.

Before we left, I tried on her ballet slippers to make sure her big toe wasn't going to rip through the seam. They're a little snug. And feet have been known to grow in a week's time. But ballet is almost over. So, you know...

Anyway, I was squeezing her foot into the slippers and she started to whine and complain that her toes were "sticking", and the following exchange took place.

Me: Just try them on really quick and then we'll take them off in the car.
L: My toes are sticking!
Me: I know it's a little tight. Sorry about that.
L: I know. I'm like, My toe is sticking because it's too small!

Later we were dressing at dance because her group was going in next.

Me: Stand still while I fix your straps.
L: I very can't stand still!
Me: Try for just a minute. I'm almost done.
L: Wobbles and topples over onto the floor.
Me: Stand up QUICK! Before you snag your sequins on the carpet!! (Just a hunch...I wouldn't make a very good stage mom.)
L: Wow. I'm like, I almost ripped my dress!

I have no idea where this came from. Another mom at dance heard her say it and it was so hard for us not to laugh. I just looked at her and I'm like, "There is no telling where she gets this stuff."

Here is the valley girl right before we left for dance. We put on tights and a tiara for the real pictures, and they looked adorable!

Omgosh that was funny! I loved the movie "Valley Girl" growing up - vintage Nicolas Cage.

Lauryn looked precious - very ballerina like. Unlike the rockettes version we've got going on here. It makes me want to gag myself w/a spoon. (sorry, you know I have no self-control)

oh my gosh- that costume is SO cute. I want to see pics with the tights and tiara. I'm sure she was loving every minute of it....well- except for the sticking toes. Owen says "like" so much now that I don't even notice it.

precious....but, I've heard a few, and I'm like, come out of your mouth back in the day.
