Their talent does not come from me

Both girls love to sit at the piano and play. I, on the otherhand, somehow become so overwhelmed and intimidated just sitting on the bench that I don't even bother to try.

So many keys. They're all the same color. How in the world do people play this instrument???

I do have to say I play a mean clarinet, though. So my musical talent is not a complete loss.

Anyway, the other day Allison hoisted herself onto the piano bench, all by herself. She began to "play" and looked very serious, as if she knew exactly what she was doing. And she was SO happy doing it!

I am thrilled that my girls are developing an appreciation for the piano. I hope they grow to share the same love for it as their dad has, and that they continue to pursue any musical talent they may have inherited. I have learned that it is never too early to introduce a child to music.

I have also learned that in addition to dusting the visable surface of the piano, you should always dust BEHIND the sheet music.

Always behind the music.

And ocassionally pull the bench out from under the piano and dust there as well - boy have I learned this one the hard way. I love the expression on her face!
