So first, before I forget, here is Lauryn this morning at her first swimming lesson at her new swim school. We signed up for the 20 week session and since the tuition costs more than our car, we're hoping it really works.

Lauryn hates water as a general rule. She cries at bath time if water gets in her eyes and she can't stand for her face to get wet. So putting her in swimming lessons is an absolute must, and we have heard amazing things about this school. Today's lesson went very well. She didn't cry and she even put her ear in the water. This is a huge accomplishment for her!
In other news, we are sick. The girls and I are all fighting off some sort of yuck. Lauryn saw her doctor last week, and we got the good ole' "it's a virus" diagnosis. So basically deal with it and move on.
Well, we dealt with it, and then we hit a wall. We were visiting my parents this weekend and she complained of her ear hurting. The child has never had an ear infection, so we knew it was probably something to look into.
We had big plans to eat here, but since she wouldn't stop crying and holding her ear as we waited for a table, we figured all the chicken fried steak in the world wouldn't make this evening pleasant.
So we left and took her to a small emergency clinic in town (which, by the way didn't take ANY insurance) and she was diagnosed with a sinus infection, threatening to quickly become an ear infection. So after another stop here, we finally settled for eating here. Not quite the dining experience I had my heart set on all day long.
We drove home that evening and she literally cried herself to sleep in the car. It was awful. And I remember the pain because I had constant ear infections as a kid. I spent many nights sitting awake because it hurt too much to lay down.
Sunday morning, we actually woke up to realize that Lauryn slept all night without a peep! I was thrilled at the thought that maybe we were out of the woods and on the mend.
Then I went in to get Allison out of her crib to find that she had vomited all over the place. And in an effort to spare you as much detail as possible, the vomit had likely been there for several hours.
I never heard one sound from her room all night long. She must have been sick in the night and she didn't even cry. I felt awful for her! She was smiling at me when I went to pick her up, then she remembered and started to frantically point at the mess in her bed. It was almost like she was saying, "Would you look at THIS!?! Where did this stuff come from?!"
This is a far cry from Lauryn's early experience with vomiting. I was 8 weeks pregnant when Lauryn (at probably 20 months old) really got sick for the first time. She, of course, screamed uncontrollably in the night when it happened. I ran in the room to get her, and then promptly ran back out. Bad smells are not your friend in the first trimester.
Lauryn was so traumatized that she would NOT go back to her crib. She eventually flung herself out of that crib (the first and only time) because she was so afraid of whatever happened to her in there.
And I can't say I blame her. There is something so unnatural about throwing up, and for all she knew it was going to happen each time she got into her crib. She is definitely my child.
But Allie, bless her heart, didn't have a care in the world. She ate breakfast and played all morning like nothing had happened. Apparently she is her daddy's child.
And as the day progressed, I realized I was the next in line. Too bad I don't get any sick days. I have more to tell, but it will have to wait until tomorrow. And until I can figure out a way to keep my sinuses from exploding.

AWWW! So sorry. I know how you hate the throw up. :) Avery ended up having an ear infection too. Her first time on antibiotics. AND, Lindsey's kids are sick too. When it rains it pours. Poor babies
YUCK! I've been meaning to call you all day today, and here it is at 11 p.m. and I'm not going to call you right now. Hopefully we can catch up tomorrow.
I can't believe how everyone I know (in every part of the country) is sick right now! I love how Allison acted about her vomit. So funny. I can remember times that I threw up in bed and just scooted over and went back to sleep (and I was old enough to remember this...that's bad). It stinks to be that sick.
Hazel has pneumonia right now! Talk about stinky!
by the way...i LOVE cici's. i wish there was one here!
