School will be out in two weeks. I have mixed emotions, but mostly I'm ready. I'm NOT ready to have an official first grader, but I am ready to have lazy days and not rush around all week long. I know Lauryn is ready, too. I am going to miss her teacher soooooo much! She has been such a blessing to our family and really helped Lauryn in making the transition into full day kindergarten.
To celebrate the end of a successful year, I wanted to share Lauryn's very last story from kindergarten. For the most part, the spelling is phonetic and you can tell what she's saying but I'll type it out under each picture just in case :) Click on the pictures to enlarge them if you want.
"Mermaid and Friends"
"I am at the beach. I put sun screen on. I put on a swim suit and a fake fin."(Side note...although accurate according to Disney's portrayl of Ariel, something about that swimsuit top just doesn't seem right, you know?!)
"I saw another mermaid. Her name was Charlotte. She had a red swim suit."
"I told her I would swim with her. We swam down to the bottom. We saw dolphins and I caught one. I named it Swimmy."
"I can't wait to see her again."The end.
I thought it was pretty cute!!
Oh, and here's one I had to throw in tonight. I found this "note " in Lauryn's backpack. She has been telling me for a few days about this boy who keeps telling her he is her "boyfriend". She is not thrilled about it (he's not exactly one you'd want to bring home to mom...just sayin') so she definitely has good taste. It's pretty funny because she will heave a great big sigh every day after school and say something like, "UGH! He said it AGAIN!"
He made this for her at the art center.
Do you see what I see?!?!? Would that be a kindergartner passing along his phone number to my precious baby girl!?!? She said, "I guess he wants me to come over for a playdate or something."Bless her angel heart.
We've had discussions about this particular "friend" in the past. Being room mom and volunteering once a week in the classroom has its benefits. I see EVERYTHING (and hear everything as the case may be). And I've heard/seen a lot from this one, I'll tell you.
Tonight she brought up the subject and wanted to ask me about something he said. We've always told her to come to us if she hears a word she doesn't know and doesn't know if it's good or bad or what it means, etc.
L: "Mom, sometimes ___ says something at school a lot."
Me: "Oh, really? What does he say?"
L: "Well, I think, um...it's kind of like, um...well, he says something like, "what the...crab"??
My precious baby girl.
I can't wait to spend every single day with her this summer and soak up the sweetness that is her.

I love her! Glad you are active in her school. She will definitely benefit from your being so hands on.
Precious girl. What boy in their right mind wouldn't want to be her boyfriend?!? I think you need to have Brent pick her up a couple of days next week. :)
