Up until now she mostly read out of "obligation". I would ask her to read with me for her "homework" for school. She would read a book to Allie if they played school.
But now.
Now she reads because she loves it. I literally have to tell her to put her book down (while secretly smiling on the inside because, yet again, it is further proof she is my clone) and eat. Or get dressed. Or buckle her seat belt.
She carried this particular book around for two days. Everywhere we went, Junie B. Jones First Grader went with us. She loves this series of books. Although they are not my first choice, I'm excited to see her excited about reading. (For those who don't know, the character in the book is an obnoxious little girl who says things like "dumb" and "stupid"...but is very silly, which I think is the appeal for Lauryn). In fact, I told Lauryn I didn't think she should be reading those because Junie B. sometimes says ugly things. Her reply? "But Mom! I know they're not nice words...but it's not like I'm going to say them." Fair enough. Guess that's a good life lesson, huh?
Here she is at breakfast this week...nose in the book.
Poking around until her fork hits something...

I can't wait for Avery to learn how to read. She is going to be a bookworm too!!
I bet she would love the Fudge books. They still make me laugh
