Three in One

This post could probably be done in three separate entries, but I have a habit of letting my "stories" get piled up and forget to blog about them sometimes. I didn't want any of this to go un-blogged (new word!) so I'm cramming it all in at once.

Our birthday festivities continued on Tuesday (Allie's real birthday) when we went out to eat with our friends the Starrs and the Schneiders. The kids looooved baby Madelyn and we're so excited to add her to our growing group! We used to meet for dinner every month or so. That was when we were all kid-less. Now it's closer to every 4 or 5 months (sadly) and we have a whopping FIVE kiddos in tow!

Allie being Allie
Could this child be any more adorable!?
Blowing out her candle on the birthday sopapilla!

Lauryn made Madelyn smile! She was absolutely thrilled!
Love this one!
Allison started gymnastics on Wednesday! She loved every minute of it and didn't want to leave when the class was over. I can't wait for more pictures and stories of her in her class. She has spent her whole life up to this point being a spectator. She has stood on the sidelines as Lauryn has gone through dance class, choir at church, and gymnastics. She was so excited to finally be doing her OWN thing!

And one final story I have to share before I forget. Lauryn has quite a vocabulary. I have always been impressed with it and have heard comments from others when they hear her talk. She doesn't really talk like a five year old. Sometimes I forget that she is as young as she is and I'm afraid that I tend to expect more out of her because she just seems older to me.
The other day we were at McDonald's for lunch. She asked me what the word "scrumptious" meant. I explained that it meant something was soooo delicious that you couldn't even describe how wonderful it tasted.
Then I said if something is just "ok", you can just say it tastes "good". But if it's something you can't get enough of then you can describe it as "scrumptious".
She thought about it for a minute but didn't say any more. After a while, she took another bite of her chicken nugget, looked up at me, and said, "Hmmm. I'd have to say this is just "good"."
I guess chicken nuggets and fries have become a little too mediocre for her palate! Finally!!

HILARIOUS scrumptious story. And I l.o.v.e. how you explained it to her. Those detailed explanations are why your kids are so smart! (as sue parker would say)
