Ice Dream

For the past six or so months, Lauryn has been talking about ice skating lessons. I thought it was a fleeting idea, but she hasn't given it up. Every time we go to the mall she wants to watch the people ice skating.

With us facing the final days before our all of our lives completely change forever (I have no clue where Lauryn gets her flair for the dramatic), I thought I would surprise her with a date to the ice skating rink...just the two of us. One more mid-day activity that will no longer be possible once she's in full day kindergarten!

My sweet friend Lisa offered to watch Allie so I was able to concentrate on bringing home four un-broken legs instead of six.

When I told Lauryn where we were going she was beyond thrilled! She bounced up and down, hanging onto my arm and squealing. That in itself was worth the price of admission.

And also this face:

She actually did very well, in my opinion. I luckily have enough skills to stay upright and was able to catch her when she started to fall without pulling both of us to the ground. She fell a couple of times pretty hard and got upset. I explained it was part of the territory and she basically needed to be super tough to be an ice skater.
She started out hanging onto the wall for dear life, and by the end she was standing alone in the middle of the rink, sloooowly moving around. She learned to put her arms out for balance and even turned around a couple of times!
On our way out, I grabbed a flyer listing information about ice skating lessons. Looks like we could be seeing a lot more ice in our future!

I have a feeling that Macy would be wanting to take lessons too if we still lived there. Keep us posted!

And yes, you will have to have some Lauryn-time during the school yr. Even if it is just a quick run to Target!

You've kinda started late if you want her in the Olympics! ;) Just kidding!
I think it'd be fun to take lessons. I always wanted to do that too.
