First Day of School!

Goodness, the blog has been neglected! Things are super busy. It's a good busy...just doesn't leave me much time for blogging.

Today was our first day back at preschool! I'm teaching in the 4's again this year, and Lauryn's classroom is right next door to mine! She is in the Zebra Class. Allison is right down the hall in the 2's. She is a Ladybug.

Here are the girls this morning before we left! The have matching backpacks and are SOOO proud of them. It appears the "head tilt" pose runs in the family.

This year is bittersweet for me. It is Lauryn's last year of preschool before becoming a kindergartner. I know she will be ready. She is starting to read, can write all her letters (capital and lowercase), and just has a general love for learning.

We have been joined at the hip for the past 4 1/2 years. I can't imagine not seeing her for the better part of the weekday when she starts school!

And Allison is the baby. What is she doing in a TWO YEAR OLD class??! I felt so proud when I walked by today and peeked in her classroom. She was sitting at the table with the other kids and was raising her hand, saying "More, please!"

She's a little person. Separate from me. She's learning to trust her teachers and interact with children her age. Before I know it, I will blink and she will be the one who is just one year away from kindergarten.

I love watching them learn and grow, but there is also a reality no one can prepare you for when you become a mommy.

They grow up. Fast.

Since I've been such a blog slacker, here's a video to make up for it. It's the girls performing a song they learned in chapel class at school. (Just ignore my singing...pride has officially gone out the window!)
