In 15 years I'll be sitting in the audience at the CMA's

It's no secret that Lauryn adores Taylor Swift. Ever since I got her cd for Christmas and played it in the car a few times, she's been hooked.

She can sing every song (with a few verses ad-libbed of course). I try not to giggle when I hear Taylor sing:
"Our song is the way you laugh
the first date, man I didn't kiss her and I should have"

And there's Lauryn singing her own version with:
"Our song is the way you laugh,
Berenstain Bears didn't kiss her but they should have."

I should also point out that she is currently obsessed with the entire collection of Berenstain Bears books. Soooo glad I kept those!!

And to further drive the point home, Lauryn is going to be Taylor for Halloween. Yes, my 4 year old is forgoing her tradition of dressing up like one of the 28 Disney princesses in exchange for an 18 year old country starlet.

On the positive side, all I have to do put her in her pink boots, slap on a dress, and call it a costume.

Oh, except for one last detail. Let's not forget the fact that she also believes she needs hair extensions to make her costume (as well as her little 4-year-old life) complete. We were in Sally's buying clips for some hair bows when she made a beeline for the hair extensions.

L: "What are thooooose?!??!!"
M: "Those are hair extensions. It's like a wig. You wear them to make your hair long."
L: "JUST LIKE TAYLOR!!!!"
M: "Um, yeah...." (I don't like where this is going)
L: "I have the perfect idea. We can buy this and I can wear it on Halloween when I'm Taylor!"

So there you have it. She will be Taylor Swift for Halloween.

Wearing a $5.99 blonde wig from Wal-mart.

I have principles.

Although I'm a little worried about how long I will be able to stand my ground. The child adores this country star and wants to be just like her. I guess I'm just relieved she picked someone who seems wholesome enough.

I mean, the world hasn't seen her underwear so we've got that going for us.

Lauryn has even turned to songwriting to express her thoughts and emotions. The other night she was giving a concert (as Taylor, of course). When I introduced her to the "audience", she belted out this original song:

I will never let go of Jesus.
Yeah, baby.
I will never let go of Jesus.
Yeah, baby.
I am a girl and I know everything.
But not that much.
Grab that saxophone right now.
I am four.
And I’ll shut the door.
Right now.

I mean, it rhymes in some parts. Has a bit of a Christian flair.

I think we've got a hit on our hands.

That is so funny! If you are going to the CMA's then you know, I'll be along for the ride...

At this point, I think Macy will want to be Keith Urban (and will too need hair extensions...) or Kenny and want to shave her head!

oh how funny! That kid cracks me up. Give Taylor time though, I'm sure she'll be posing in the nude in no time for some magazine and calling it all a mistake in judgment. Blah!

I think we may need to get our girls together! My daughter Emily,6, has taken up song writing as well. And loves Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus. Now that she can spell basic words and knows her phonics pretty well, she actually has a notebook that she writes her songs in! It is really the only way I can get her to practice writing at all.

So cute!!! I love her original songs!!

P.S. Are those OUR childhood Berenstain Bear books that you saved?? Hmm, if she ever gets tired of them, feel free to donate to my classroom.... ;)

Oh my gosh- that song is HILARIOUS. I love hearing Jesus and Yeah Baby in the same song.

Can't wait to see that costume.
