The weekend started Friday afternoon. A little background: Lisa and I both have birthdays in April, 4 days apart. This year our husbands went in together and surprised us with a "combined" birthday gift. Get ready for this:
First, a night here on Friday, and the next day to spend doing whatever we wanted. All. Day. Long.
If you're not a mom, you won't really get the compete AMAZING-NESS of this gift. Just the fact that our birthday is in April and we're just now "cashing in" our gift tells you how crazy busy the life of a mom is! This was the first weekend we both had open, and it happened to also be Mother's Day weekend. It was fate.
We slept late, ate (often!), saw two movies (in the theater!), spent 6 hours at Grapevine Mills Mall, ate some more, shopped some more, and eventually made our way back home around 9:00 Saturday night. We never knew what time it was because neither of us bothered to wear a watch because we didn't have to follow ANYONE'S schedule!!
It's amazing how refreshed you can feel, even after an entire day of marathon shopping. One day to yourself makes all the difference in the world. We could not be more appreciative of our wonderful husbands for giving us the best gift ever. Thanks, guys!
And for the sake of a good blog, we had to take at least one picture. Here we are at the Gaylord:

Starting Mother's Day off by going to church, then spending the rest of the day with my family was a great way to end a perfect weekend. Lauryn made a necklace for me at school and also presented me with a homemade card at breakfast. She randomly said, "Happy Mother's Day!!" throughout the day. (She loves a good holiday...any holiday will do!)
She even "played" a song for me on her new guitar. Oddly it sounded exactly like "Happy Birthday", except in the very last line she sang, "Happy Mother's Day to yoooooooou."

I give her props for her creative genius.
We ended the day by eating here for dinner. There really is no better way to celebrate any occasion than eating your weight in Kincaid's fried okra.
It was a wonderful weekend. I am so blessed to be the mother of these two beautiful children.

I am equally blessed to have both an amazing mother and mother-in-law who give advice, support, encouragement, and love unconditionally. Happy Mother's Day!
