Weekend Entertainment

Sometimes my friends and I will talk about what life was like before we had kids. Honestly, I have no clue what we did. When I taught, I took summers off. What in the WORLD did I do with all that time???! Carefree weekends to spend any way we chose.

Shopping.

Eating out.

Sleeping in.

Whatever we wanted.

I recently eavesdropped on overheard a conversation between two ladies. Obviously childless ladies. One was explaining to the other how she and her new husband had such busy schedules. She said this had to be the busiest time of their life.

THEN she said she was looking forward to having kids. Because things would slow down. She could quit her job and stay home with the kids. And she would have so much more time on her hands to get things done.

As I sat there and listened I think I made my tongue bleed just a little.

What with all the biting.

So anyway, I can't remember what we did before these precious girls, but I can assure you we didn't have this kind of weekend entertainment.

Meredith and I used to do this as kids. (Mere, you and I don't have the greatest memories in the world, but I know there's no way you've forgotten this!)

She and I would laugh until we had tears rolling down our cheeks.

I have to say I came pretty darn close to doing it again this time. If you've never played this "game" it is probably the goofiest thing you will ever do, but I guarantee you will laugh until your sides hurt.

When it was my turn, Lauryn was laughing uncontrollably and kept saying I looked like a potato head. I almost couldn't breathe.

There is no doubt in my mind. I wouldn't trade these moments for just one of those carefree weekends.

Not for anything in the world.

Oh my gosh!!! Yes, I haven't forgotten that, and I have even done that with just JD and I to show him (Pre-avery of course). I still love that game. I wonder if Avery would like it? That may be what we are doing this Friday night! :)

I also watched my fair share of Lifetime movies on lazy Saturdays. After I slept in and ate french toast at 11.

I'd also hit the mall at some point of the weekend. I thought I needed a new outfit to wear every Monday to start off my work week! Because those 2nd graders appreciated variety.

Let's not forget how the doggies were our entertainment as well...
