Today was our first day of Vacation Bible School! And after a huge weekend of travel I didn't make it to the grocery store like I usually do on Sunday, so we had nothing for lunch at home. So after VBS, we stopped by McDonalds.
Because today we talked about things we were thankful for, and McDonald's french fries are up there on my list.
First I need to give a little background on a phase Lauryn is going through. She's a pretty smart kid (and I CAN say that because I'm her mom) and lately it seems like if she is conscious, she is asking a question every 37 seconds.
And they aren't the easy ones.
They are the ones like:
"Why does Mimi's dog live with God in Heaven?"
"Why can't her dog come back to see us?"
"Why are there mean people in the world?"
I typically take the easy way out when I don't know how to respond and so I tell her that I don't know, and that only God knows the answers to all of our questions.
So I shouldn't have been surprised when we were eating our Happy Meals at the kitchen table and had the following conversation:
L: Is there lettuce on my cheeseburger?
M: No.
L: Why isn't there lettuce on my cheeseburger?
M: I guess it's because they just don't put lettuce on kids' burgers in Happy Meals.
L: Why don't they put lettuce on kids' burgers in Happy Meals?
M: (Not at all losing my patience) I'm not really sure why, sweetheart.
L: Well, I guess we'll just have to ask God. He knows.
In that case, I'd also like to ask why they choose to skip the lettuce but then load kids' burgers down with a pound of finely chopped onions?

Seriously. Onions. I've never understood that either.
haaaaaaaaaaa! She cracks me up!
And I never even noticed that! Why is it??
Yep- that's why we say "Cheeseburger PLAIN!" with a strong (and loud) emphasis on the plain.
She is so precious. Did she ask God? What did he say? It really is a good question? Owen loves lettuce. Why do they assume kids aren't going to like lettuce but they are going to enjoy mustard and onions (which is a disgusting combo)?!?!?!
That is so funny. I was laughing out loud. Kids innocence is something I wish they never had to lose.
Yeah, this one baffles me too. :) Such a cute story!!
