Easter Weekend - Part 1

What a fun weekend! It has been a whirlwind, so we'll have to recap the whole weekend in two parts!

Allie had her Easter party at school on Thursday. It was raining, so the hunt was moved indoors. The kids still had a great time!

I don't have pictures, but Lauryn had her "American Idol" singing contest at school that afternoon. I was soooo nervous as each child got up on the stage and stood in front of the three judges! Lauryn was second to last for her age level. I think they had about 12 first graders trying out, so it was a long, nervous wait!

She came into the room and stepped onto the stage. She looked right at me and smiled the whole time, never even looking down at the words on the podium in front of her. She seemed confident and excited! I was SO proud of her! She told me later that she was nervous and that she thought her voice was shaky, but I assured her that no one noticed! They chose a few winners from each grade level, and Lauryn was one of the winners for first grade! She got a medal, a certificate, and will be singing a song during announcements one morning over the intercom! So proud of that girl :)

Saturday was our big Egg Hunt at church! I was in charge of the event (per my new job requirement) and it has been quite an adventure. I've never planned anything more than a birthday party, so this seemed like a huge responsibility.

We were blessed with great weather and a GREAT turnout. We had a record number of kids both from our church and from the community. Things went very smoothly and several people stopped me during the hunt to tell me how much fun they were having. Couldn't have asked for a better compliment!

I wasn't able to do much watching since I had to run back and forth directing different age groups at different times, but Brent did a great job taking pictures. The girls had so much fun!

Finally, after the Egg Hunt, we ran over to the soccer field for Allie's last soccer game of the season. Her team had their first official win! The team met at a park after the game and each girl received a trophy. What a fun day!

Stay tuned for Part 2...
