A Stitch...Or Six

See this sweet baby?
She has a boo-boo. (*sniff, sniff*)
Sunday night we were going about our buisness getting ready for bed. Allie was out of the shower, and Lauryn just stepped in. I was folding laundry in my room and told Allie to bring me her brush so I could comb through her hair.

Since Allie never really walks anywhere, it was no surprise that she raced out of the room, and raced right back, brush in hand.

Unfortunately something happened in between and she managed to trip/fall/slide/stumble (still don't really know) and crash head first (or apparently chin-first) into the corner of our bed.

It was a slow-motion moment for sure. I saw it happen but wasn't quick enough to stop it. That was the worst part for me...and still is. I immediately scooped her up, thinking she just knocked all of her teeth out or cut her lip in half. So I was surprised and thrilled when I looked at her face and saw nothing. Not a cut or scrape to be seen.

So it was odd when suddenly I realized there was blood dripping from my hand (sorry for the graphics)...I knew we definitely had a problem. Tilting her head up, I saw that she had just split the lower part of her chin right down the middle.

Right about then I went into panic mode as I so effortlessly do from time to time. Thankfully Brent swooped in, scooped her up, grabbed a t-shirt and held it to her gushing chin. I spent the next few minutes running in circles (that would be funny if it wasn't so literal) and asking what to do over and over. He calmly managed to somehow direct all of us into the car and we headed to the children's hospital.

Long story short, they were wonderful and very efficient. They put some sort of numbing gel on a cotton ball and taped it to her chin. An hour later they started the stitches and she didn't feel a thing. I stayed in the waiting room with Lauryn and Brent went back with Allie. That was best for all of us. There is a reason I did not go into the medical profession.

Six stitches later, she was ready to go! She was so incredibly brave and we are so proud of her. Lauryn was such a sweet sister and very concerned. She cried almost as much as Allie did. It was hurting her so much to see her sister in pain. She still doesn't like to talk about it.

Allie has been awesome. She has never complained of pain and the cut is healing very well. She will go back this weekend to have the stitches removed.
Love these sweet sisters!
