She Did It!

We made it! And I didn't cry!

At least not a lot.

We took the girls to get donuts this morning to celebrate the last day of school!

The awards ceremony was so cute! The kids walked in to "The Graduation March" and it was all I could do to hold back the tears!
Lauryn got four awards (pictures to follow). Here she is getting her "diploma"!
She found out she got FIRST PLACE in the reading contest! The kids were to bring in a "Reading is Fun" chart each time they finished reading ten books (or had someone read to them). The contest went on all year and at the end, Lauryn ended up reading the most! She wanted to win so badly that she would bring books to her bed at night and read until it got dark. And even then she would hold the book up to her face to try and see the words! SOOOO awesome to see her face when she realized her hard work paid off!
The winners of the "Good Behavior" award...and really such a sweet little group of kids. (Not sure what the look on her face is for :)
Perfect Attendance award!
I loved every minute of it, but I think Allie got bored.
It's officially SUMMER!!

Here is Lauryn and her amazing teacher. We can't believe how perfectly God had His hand over this entire situation. We went into a school knowing NOBODY and out of all the teachers she could have had, He hand picked the one Lauryn needed the most. She was compassionate and understanding, but also pushed Lauryn to work hard and to succeed. We will never forget her!
Lauryn received the "Future Teacher" award! Every child got a "fun" award reflecting their personality and interests. I thought this fit Lauryn perfectly :)
Yes, you read that right. She read 1,190 books from August - May. I about fell over when her teacher read the total number of books. She definitely earned her first place prize (although the second place winner wasn't far behind)! Her teacher gave the top three winners a set of brand new books to read over the summer. What do you think she did as soon as we walked in the door after school? Yep. And she's still reading them as I type. :)
SOOO proud of this one!
And this one, too!
What a wonderful way to end the school year! Her teacher also announced that they just found out their school earned "Exemplary" status as a result of their testing scores this spring. Definitely a happy day!
Now we're ready for summer!
