Yesterday, our family gathered to celebrate the life of an incredible man. My sweet grandpa passed away at the age of 92. He never slowed down, traveling to California just two months before he died. He visited the farm he loved just days before he went to the hospital. He was remembered as a smart man (studying at Harvard and MIT), an entrepreneur (he, along with his brothers, started their own company), a dedicated serviceman (serving in the Army Air Corps in WWII), an avid sportsman (he loved golf and the Iowa Hawkeyes!), and mostly, a loving father and grandfather. He was married to my grandmother for 68 years. They had five children, ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
I will remember his winks, quiet laugh, funny stories (told and re-told each time we all got together!), fuzzy sweaters, and gentle nature. He will be greatly missed, but we also celebrate his long and incredible life!

Nicole, I am so sorry for your loss. I know it was so long ago, but the one time that I met him, I remember that he was so nice to me. Your whole family was. What a loving tribute to him and I am glad that the girls were able to know him.
Nicole,
Thanks for sharing about your grandfather. We're so sorry for your loss. ((HUGS)) to you and your family!
I'm so sorry! I know how close you are to all of your grandparents. But, what an amazing and full life he lived it sounds like. 68 years! That's incredible. I love you!!
I know you are hurting from your loss. I hurt for you. I'm so glad you took that last trip. What special memories you have!
Aren't you so thankful that you have so many pictures of him even though you lived far away. The video was awesome - what a cool thing to have. I'm so glad you were able to be at the funeral.
