We've had a yucky week. Allison has been sick since last Thursday with a horrendous cough, fever, runny nose, etc. We've been to the doctor twice in the past week. We've been tested for flu (negative) as well as had x-rays to be sure it wasn't pneumonia (it wasn't, thank goodness).
She's finally been fever free for almost 48 hours, so we are running back to pre-school this morning! I'm so glad she's back to her old self.
I do think it left an impression on Lauryn, though (who is now sporting her very own runny nose). Several times I was on the phone with the doctor's office trying to describe the severity and longevity of the illness (i.e. you'd better squeeze us in for an appointment today or I'm going to go insane).
Today at breakfast, Lauryn looked up at Allie and explained her situation.
L: "Allie, guess what. I was up all night with this cough."
A: "Oh."
L : "I had the barking cough four times last night."
I suppose that was the way I was describing Allison's cough to anyone who would listen. Nights were especially hard. It was like waking up to a sea lion every two hours for the past week.
Thank goodness we're on the mend!

I am so sorry - there aren't many things worse than a sick kid at night. I hope Allie is feeling much better, and am really hoping that the eavesdropper doesn't get sick.
I would really love to be a fly on the wall for all their conversations. Glad to hear that Allie's illness wasn't something more serious. Here's hoping Lauryn doesn't come down with it too, if anything, for your sanity.
HA! Barking. That's awesome. I love the little things they say to each other.
