For as long as she can remember, Lauryn has been coming with us to the vet's office when Hope needs something. We visit the vet for yearly vaccinations, grooming, heart worm medication refills, and even the occasional diaper-eating/chocolate-devouring emergency.
From the time she was old enough to realize Hope was going to the vet, Lauryn cries every time we leave Hope there. I explain EVERY time that we're just leaving her for a little while and we'll come back to pick her up when the vet is all done with her.
Yesterday I got a little glimpse into the mind of a 3 year old. It also gave me a whole new perspective on why she might be so emotional at all of Hope's drop-offs.
I overheard a conversation between Lauryn and her friend Macy when they were playing yesterday.
L: My dog got her teeth cleaned.
M: Yeah.
L: They had to take her tooth and give her another dog's tooth.
M: Ohhhhh.
L: Yeah. And then they had to shave her hair all off so they could clean her teeth. And she got medicine because they hurt her teeth and she got an owie.
Apparently the vet's office is essentially the House of Doom for all dogs everywhere. No wonder she cries every time we leave Hope.
And as a side note, the lady on the news just said that we are in the midst of a "treacherous winter storm" and it's a very "critical" time. I guess we had better go hunker down before the predicted 2 inches of snow buries us alive.

Cute story.
That last line is still cracking me up this morning. It's so funny that I even repeated it to a friend on the phone this morning (don't worry, I totally gave you props for it).
