Apparently, I need to find a new talent

Lauryn has been learning about Zacheus in Sunday School. She learned the song at church today and wanted B to sing it with her because he told her he had learned it as a little boy.

When they finished, she looked at him and said, "Good job, Dad! You're learning it!" (I love how she gives him praise for learning a song he has already known for 25 years.)

Anyway, she loves singing, and right now she loves to make up her own songs. I was running errands with the girls last week and she came up with a song while we were in the car.

L: Listen to my new song!

Me: OK!

L: (in a random tune)
I have a little flower;
It begins to bloom.
And I'm gonna take care of it.

L: Now you try to sing it, Mama!

Me:
I have a little flower;
It begins to bloom.
And I'm gonna take care of it.

L: Ummmm...why don't you try that again.

Me: (repeating song again, just as I was "taught")
I have a little flower;
It begins to bloom.
And I'm gonna take care of it.

*Silence from the backseat*

I turned to look at Lauryn and she was looking at me with a face kind of like this:

L: Hmmm. Never mind. I don't think you get it.

I guess I'm not quite the musical genius her father is.
