Cookies and Cuteness

So things are moving along after a rough week last week. Allie is feeling (and sounding!) much better. She went back to preschool yesterday and didn't miss a beat. I think she missed her friends and the fun art projects (her favorite part of school is "art"...she says this all the time!)

Yesterday Lauryn's Daisy troop set up a table outside of Kroger to sell cookies. They made signs at their last meeting and were so excited! (Don't you love our "junior Girl Scout" sneaking in the picture?! :)

I am always shocked when I watch Lauryn in this type of environment. I often forget how much she has grown and matured in the last year and a half. When she started kindergarten, she was extremely attached to me (and honestly, it went both ways!) and depended on me to do so much for her, including talking to adults.

She has just completely come out of her shell, and I didn't expect it to happen so soon! She was the first one to approach each customer as they passed. She loudly asked "Would you like to buy some Girl Scout Cookies?", and even said "Thank you!" if a person said no, or even if they just walked by and ignored us.

When people did want to buy cookies, she would take the lead and say, "What kind would you like? We have a new cookie called Shout Outs if you'd like a free sample!"

I just had to stand there and grin. She makes me so proud every day.

And not to leave Little Sister out of this post...she is pretty great herself :) She has been cracking me up lately with her "Allie-isms". Some of my favorite from this week:

*An animal trainer came to their school yesterday to talk about animal safety (never approach a strange dog, etc.) There was a presentation where the kids got to see lots of different animals. I asked her about it after school:
Me: "Allie, did you go see lots of animals?"
Allie: "Yes!"
Me: "Where did you see them? Was it in the sanctuary?"
Allie: "No"
Me: "Did they set it up in the gym?"
Allie: "No"
Me: "Well where was it? Where did you go?"
Allie: "Well....we just went left."

(Found out it was in a room just down the hall...to the "left" of their classroom to be exact!)

*She was drawing a picture on her easel and, very proud of her work, announced, "Isn't this just dazzling!?"

*Lauryn was wishing out loud that we could live in the country. I told her to keep wishing (awesome mommy moment.) Allie tried to comfort her by explaining, "Well, Lauryn, it's ok...you know that eventually we will go to Grandma's house, and that is in the country."

I love it when she uses bigger words...I wish I could describe the way she says them in her little "Allie accent"!

Hope you're having a great week!

I know the feeling of being attached. I think I'm more attached than Hayden. I want him to be outgoing, but I sure do love when he calls "Mommy!" from the playground and comes over for me to give him a kiss.

You know y'all could always come visit us in the country. Lauryn could ride one of the horses! And Allie would love it too!
