First Grader

Lauryn's fever finally broke Monday night! I kept her home on Tuesday to be sure it didn't return, and she had a great day.

Soooo, today we were off to school!

She chose monkey bread for her special breakfast.

It rained all night and into the morning. Our high temperature today was in the LOW 80's. Amazing. She was all smiles on the way out the door!

Showing off the back of her backpack. The backpack was completely empty but the lunchbox was stuffed!
She wanted to take a picture with Allie. I can't even believe that this time next year I will have a picture of BOTH of them wearing their backpacks, headed to school. AAAHHH!

I talked with her teacher yesterday and we planned on arriving a little early to get settled in after missing a couple of days. It was a good thing, because she was pretty nervous when we got there. She did manage a smile for me, though :)
She cried a little when I left. I thought she might...she was getting nervous on the drive to school. I thought about her all day, wondering if she cried off and on like she did at the beginning of kindergarten.
I was thrilled when she came out of the building this afternoon. She was talking with a friend and they were smiling as they were walking down the hall. She came out and gave me a big hug. Her teacher said she only cried for a minute. Lauryn said she was nervous, but she never cried again after that little bit in the morning. That is HUGE!
We have prayed so hard for so long about this day and this school year. God answered our prayers and provided such a sense of peace for me. We are soooo thankful!
