Farm Festivities

Lauryn went on her very first Field Trip on Friday! She rode the big yellow bus and everything. I received a report later that the bus is not as great as it would seem...way too bumpy. Allie spent the day playing with Ethan and Rachel (THANK YOU, Lisa!) and I was able to go with Lauryn on her field trip.

I followed behind the buses (with about 35 other cars...gotta love kindergarten parents!) and we drove about 30 miles out into the country to this adorable little farm. The kids have been studying about farm animals. They are anxiously waiting for the baby chicks to hatch in the incubator in their classroom!

The farm was wide open and there were goats, rabbits, and dogs just wandering around. They were so sweet and friendly...the kids loved it!

Each class rotated through different "stations" that were set up for them. We started with stick horse races and sack races!

They went on a hunt for "Peter Rabbit" and found him hiding behind a fence. Lauryn took the obligatory picture, but laughed later about the "person dressed up in the bunny suit".
She loved getting to pet and brush the goats and sheep.
Riding a "horse"...about half the size of the ones Grandpa has! They literally rode for about 30 seconds each. She whispered to me later that she likes Grandpa's horses better because she gets to ride them as long as she wants.
Meeting a wandering goat...
...ending the day with a picnic lunch in the shade!
And today happens to be my birthday. It was a wonderful day with beautiful weather! We went to the farmer's market and bought some flowers and plants for the front yard.
I was told to "hide" in my sewing room for a while, which I happily obliged. I was able to finish a new dress I've been working on for Lauryn (Allie's was finished earlier in the week). I was probably in there at least an hour when door to the room opened and the girls called me to their bedroom.
They cleaned their entire room all by themselves and were beaming with pride! It was so precious. All three of them (Brent included) made a card for me and had baked a cake for me while I was sewing! So cute!
We went out to eat for lunch and dinner, enjoyed a fun bike ride tonight, and ended the evening by looking at the beautiful moon through Lauryn's new telescope (that thing is AWESOME!) I am blessed beyond words and my heart is so full.
Thank you, God, for life's wonderful blessings!
