Almost Bowling

So we thought we'd shake things up a little bit and take the girls bowling on Saturday afternoon. It's something they've never done before, and it was pretty cold outside. We figured it was a perfect indoor activity to get us all out of the house.
We headed over to the bowling alley and walked right up to the counter to pay for our lane. In an effort to consciously and continuously save money (thank you economy!) we decided to only pay for the girls to bowl. I couldn't wait to watch them hoist those big bowling balls and toss them down the lane. CUTENESS!
As we start to pay, the kid at the counter hands us the price list.

Did you know that these days it costs $40 to watch a two and four-year-old push an 8 pound ball across the floor?
Yeah, me neither.

Luckily our girls are completely awesome and took it extremely well when we broke the news that would would not, in fact, be bowling. Because, hello FORTY dollars!
However, we were in luck. There was a very "Chuck-E-Cheese meets Dave and Busters" game room right there in the very same building. We loaded up on $10 worth of tokens and were on our way for a fun-filled Saturday afternoon.

Of course we let them play the "claw game". Otherwise known as the biggest rip-off ever invented. Seriously, it's bad enough when the thing is filled with stuffed animals...but BALLS?? Maybe the laws of physics don't apply inside the magical box of the "claw game".

Riding the motorcycle was actually pretty fun!

So, this is as close to bowling as we got. But it was lots of fun!

The girls earned 44 tickets, which they traded in for two sheets of stickers. Because we don't have 643 sheets of stickers at home already. All in all, we had a great time. It might have even been a little more fun than the bowling!

Next time we'll just set up a few two-liters, give them a basketball, and have them roll it down the driveway. You've got to cut costs where you can these days.

omg - you went to an expensive bowling alley!! I used to take ZZ a lot and it was like $5. He loved it. (Minus all the smoking - yuck!)

$40??? what a rip! Looks like they had a Blast anyway!!

That does seem a little, scratch that, VERY pricey. And the "claw game" is always a brief, suspense filled ... letdown! I don't think anyone ever wins.

And you can NEVER have too many stickers.

Holy Moly! They must have jacked up the prices recently...that's ridiculous!!! But hey - sounds like you guys had a blast anyway and got some nice memories out of the deal. Can't wait to see those stickers! Maybe you can frame them!

WOW! I think you just picked the wrong bowling alley. Our whole family can play for less than that! But I will say that my kids like the game room more than the actual bowling.

BTW- your hair is dark! Did you color it? It looks good. :)

Yes, I'm realizing now that we went to the wrong bowling alley! Lindsey, it has been a while since you've seen me in person. This is what happens when I can no longer justify every-other-month trips to the salon. Behold, my natural color!
