Here We Go!

A new school year has begun! I love the excitement of the first day of school. I love our tradition of monkey bread for breakfast, pictures in the front yard, and Daddy being home to come with us when we drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon! (This year he had a super busy day full of meetings, but he left work, drove 45 minutes to be there when they got out of school, then drove 45 minutes back to the office - he's a keeper!)

My little girl isn't so little! 3rd grade seems soooo big to me for some reason. This year she will switch classes for Reading, Social Studies, and Math. She has a HOMEROOM teacher. That didn't happen for me until 6th grade! She has an enormous binder filled with TEN dividers. I can't take it.

 Luckily, we have hit the jackpot this year. Her kindergarten teacher JUST moved up to third grade, and Lauryn is in her homeroom class! She is also in her math class and Social Studies/Science class, so she will spend the majority of her day with a teacher we already adore! Her reading teacher is wonderful, too. And to top it all off, 4 of her closest friends are in her reading and math classes. She is thrilled, which is a huge blessing.

My baby! How did she end up in first grade already?! She surprises me constantly. I didn't know how she would react to getting a teacher she doesn't know (her teacher is new to our campus, but she is fantastic) and being in a class with NONE of her friends from kindergarten. 

Well.

She handled it beautifully. She went right in, found her locker, found her desk, and hugged me goodbye. So far we have had two days of school and she comes home smiling and saying her day was "great"! Couldn't ask for more than that! 

The best of friends! They are so sweet and love each other so much. After we come home from school and unpack, finish going through folders, etc., they immediately run off to play together. They miss each other during the day. I hear that they wave to each other at lunch :)

We have prayed many prayers over this school year. I can't wait to see how much they learn and grow!
