Christmas Celebrations

It's hard to believe its already over, but Christmas Day sure was wonderful! We were crossing our fingers that we would get some snow again this year...and if it had only been about 10 degrees colder, we definitely would have! Christmas Eve was rainy and cold...around 39 degrees when we went to Christmas Eve services at church.

But first, Christmas Eve Day...the girls did their best to keep busy but it was hard because they were sooooo excited! Daddy came up with this great idea and they spent about an hour reading books in their new fort.
They eventually moved on to other things, but it was amazing how easily they were entertained by a table and a quilt!
Christmas Eve services finally arrived...we got to church early so Lauryn could get into her costume for the children's pageant. She was a beautiful little angel!
They were so precious standing up there, and everyone did such a great job!
(Ok, this one is out of order but I can't figure out how to fix it...the girls watching Daddy sprinkle the "reindeer food" in the grass. In the rain.)
Wonderful performance by all the kiddos! This year's pageant was 1st and 2nd graders only. Next year I will be in charge of the Christmas pageant since it will involve 3 and 4 year olds! (They alternate every year).

We went out for a quick dinner after church, then headed home to open one present. The girls got new footie pajamas! Lauryn read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" while we sat around the fireplace.
So excited they hardly know what to do with themselves!
Christmas morning finally arrived! Allie asked Santa for a trundle bed for her new American Girl Doll. Lauryn asked for a three-story Polly Pocket House.
First sight!

Such a joyous day!
They had no idea you could make popcorn any other way besides in the microwave. I think they will love watching it pop in the popper!
Mmmmm...many brownies and cookies in our future. Cooked by the heat of a light bulb. Can't wait!

When we finished opening presents, Lauryn stood up out of the blue and announced, "Let's be sure to remember our best gift of all that we get every day...which is Jesus and love."
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Wow! What a sweet child she is. If all could have her faith. What a wonderful Christmas it was. And Hayden loved sprinkling his "reindeer" food too! And don't you know he was looking to make sure they ate it all when he got up the next morning!?
