Yes, that's my baby girl. All worn out from being sick with her very first ear infection. Which decided to make its appearance on our first day. We all got to bed at the insane hour of 11:00 p.m. a tad late the night we arrived.
At 4:30 a.m. I woke up to Miss Allie complaining that her ear was hurting. She only said it once, so I figured they were still a little sore from the pressure change on the plane. But she would not go back to sleep. She whimpered and whined and said she was ready to wake up. So by 6:30, I got up to take a shower and get dressed. I should have known something was wrong when she wouldn't let me put her down, begging for me to hold her even while I dried my hair (which she usually complains about being too loud and leaves the room).
She didn't have a fever (until later) so I just assumed she was tired. Well, looooong story short, God watched over us by providing us with a nice doctor (a close friend of my aunt) who agreed to see us on a Saturday morning. 24 hours and two doses of antibiotics later, she was on the mend. It was amazing to see how much more happy she was the next morning!
But it didn't change the fact that she was miserable for an entire day of our short 3 day trip. She was miserable at the really neat park we went to. Miserable at the indoor water park that she played at for 20 minutes before wanting to change back into her clothes. And miserable enough that she didn't play dress up with her cousins...and there were some really neat clothes she missed out on!
Anyway, I did manage to get some good pictures before and after the illness struck.
There is an enormous rock in my grandmother's back yard. I used to love playing on it as a kid... and now my girls love it, too!

The girls enjoyed playing with their "cousin" (my cousin's daughter)

We threw a surprise wedding shower for my sister and her fiance! Everyone gave them gift cards so they wouldn't have to worry about getting boxes and bags back on the plane.

Playing a fun shower game with my mom and dad!

This slide provided a rare moment of happiness for Allie that day.

The girls posing with their great-grandmother, wearing their fancy bracelets.

Posing with their other great-grandmother

I used to loooove these stairs as a kid. The staircase at my grandma's house always seemed so big to me!

Except for the ear infection, it was a great trip for all of us. I cherish any time my girls are able to spend with their great-grandparents. We are blessed that my grandmothers are with us and that my girls are able to know them. I know they will have many loving memories of them, just like I do.

poor baby. these pics are so cute, though. that's so great that both of your grandmother's are still able to hold their great-grandbabies. the one of just lauryn being squeezed by her ggrand is hilarious. she looks like her eyes are popping open from being squezzed too hard.
that word is supposed to be squeezed. :)
Actually, that was Lauryn over compensating because her eyes were closed in the picture taken just before!! :) HA!
