We were driving to gymnastics the other day and Lauryn was asking all kinds of questions from the back seat.
She started to ask what different kinds of animals eat. So we went through a looong list.
Allison was listening to the conversation but sitting quietly, as she always does. So I made sure to try and include her.
M: Allison, what do you think ladybugs eat?!
A: Eyes lighting up at the opportunity to get her turn to speak, looks thoughtful for a minute. "Umm..."
L: "I KNOW I KNOW! I KNOW WHAT THEY EAT"!
A: Shooting a look at her sister and yells with a force, "My TURN! My turn my turn my turn!"
M & L: Blank stares
M: "Allie, your turn for what"?
A: "Talk"!
Two years of sitting by as Lauryn talks her way through each day, only breaking for a nap, and she's finally had enough.
She really has started to explode verbally. She's putting lots of words together and will sing songs to include most of the lyrics!
One of my favorite things that she does now involves the phone. When I'm on the phone and (finally!) finish talking, she'll immediately ask, "Who that?" I'll tell her who was on the phone and she'll ask, "They say?" Once I give her a scaled-down version of the conversation, she's satisfied and says, "Oh."
Every single time.
She's growing so fast!

I'm glad that she's verbally holding her own. :) I'm sure that's just a small glimpse into what the rest of their lives will be like. Love you guys.
so cute! Glad she's asserting her will to talk too! Typical girl. :)
