There is a big 50th Day of School celebration at the girls' school this week. Because I have no excuse other than I just like easy costumes, I figured we'd combine the two events and go as "50's girls" for Halloween! I feel awful for not making the skirts but I didn't know when I'd find the time, so luckily a friend of a friend (thanks Amber!) let us borrow two, and another friend loaned us one, so between the three skirts we were able to make use of what we already had so we could be sure and "match".

This year's Halloween costumes = $0.00! Trick or Treat!

We have a tradition to Trick-or-Treat with our besties, so they met up with us at our church's Trunk-or-Treat. Lauryn had been sick for a few days, but by Sunday she was finally on the mend, thankfully, so we were able to move ahead as planned. It's a good thing, too, because I would have hated to miss out on seeing these cuties all dressed up!
Our "50's" car - records courtesy of Lauryn and Allie :) And a funny story so I won't forget - they worked for about 20 minutes on the trunk decorations. When they were done, they proudly brought them to me and Lauryn announced, "Here are the record players!" Bless their hearts, they'll never know a world where music doesn't come from ipods and itunes :)
The night before Halloween we carved the pumpkin! We just recently started roasting the seeds a few years ago. It's now one of our favorite traditions - yummy!

We weren't able to Trick-or-Treat with the Starrs on the actual night of Halloween but we had some school friends come by to go around the neighborhood with us!
We quickly ran into some boys from Lauryn's grade and they joined our group. The boy in the purple shirt is dressed as Justin Bieber. Another funny story - as the kids were leaving one house where some teen-ish boys were handing out candy, Lauryn ran up to me and said, "Those boys asked K if he was supposed to be dressed as an M&M. Are they crazy? He doesn't look like an M&M at all!" and then she skipped off to the next house.

I almost wet my pants laughing over that one. (Those of you up to speed on your "pop culture" will quickly get that reference). Hilarious.
I needed a quiet moment to catch my breath after looking at this last picture. Lauryn looks like a teenager just hanging out with her friends. I'm going to blink and suddenly it will be reality. Where did my babies go!?
Now we are ready for fall weather (PLEASE - so sick of 80 degree weather!), Thanksgiving, and some family time!
