Fall Welcome

Lauryn loves to be crafty. She is always drawing or creating something somewhere in the house. She had a picture of a scarecrow and wanted to turn it into "yard art" to put in the front yard. She colored the picture and cut it out. Then she asked me to write "Welcome to Our House" on a pieces of paper. Underneath that, she wrote all of our names (in her own spelling!)

She actually made several attempts to create the sign on her own. First she glued popsicle sticks together, but the paper kept flopping over. Then she decided she would tape another piece of paper on the back of the scarecrow and stuff cotton balls between the two pieces of paper to make it more sturdy. It was a really good idea...but still didn't work.

So after getting a little frustrated that her ideas didn't turn out the way she envisioned (I definitely felt her pain!), Daddy came to the rescue and contributed a little engineering of his own.

The first location...
...she eventually decided to move it because it was raining off and on that day. She decided that since the roof was covering the ground in this spot, this was the best place!
So far it has held up through two straight days of rain!

She is very creative and knows exactly what she wants, doesn't she? I just can't believe how big she's getting.

That is way too adorable. What determination!

It's weird that you spelled "piece" like the zodiac sign 'pices'

So cute! That reminds me of Addi. She (and now Libby) always make signs to put on our front door. :)
